Helpful Tips To Help Ease The Stresses Of Parenting
Not every child is extroverted, and as a parent, you need to realize that. There are many children who are shy, and that is perfectly okay. You do want to pay attention if you notice signs that your child is excessively introverted, however. This may be the time to take your child to the doctor to see if there are any psychological issues that can be corrected.
Is your baby hard to calm? Put some lavender oil on your neck and then hold them. The smell of the lavender oil will immediately soothe your little one. This is also effective for preparing little ones to sleep, as lavender oil is famous for its relaxing properties.
Toddler parenting done right. Teaching a child to take turns at an early age is very important. Children need to learn early on that the world does not revolve around them and that it is polite to take turns and share. If your kids are being particularly disobedient, consider placing them in a "time-out" as a means of discipline.
You can make a natural teether by putting carrots, pickles or a cucumber into a mesh teether to soothe a child who is teething. The taste of the food inside of the teether will keep your child using this teether longer than other types of relief. The more your child chews on the item, the quicker they will cut their teeth and ultimately feel better.
Teach your child organizational skills by showing him exactly where to put his things away. Your child's toys will be everywhere if you do not instill the right organizational skills in him or her from the beginning. However, if you show him where each item they own "lives", then your child will learn to place his things back in their appropriate spots once he is done playing with them.
Try to steer clear of demeaning language when correcting your child's behavior. Using this type of language can be detrimental to his behavior. Try to use words that are encouraging to motivate him to have better behavior.
Drill into your child's head from the time they are old enough to understand the dangers of talking to strangers. In this day and age you never know who is a predator or a criminal, and your child knows even less. Instill the concept of "stranger danger" into your child, and develop a plan with them, such as yelling and running away from a stranger who approaches them.
Avoid smoking in your house if children live there, also. In fact, it's a good idea to stop smoking completely. Secondhand smoke is equally as harmful as actually smoking. Smoking around your children can be very hazardous and cause many respiratory issues including asthma, bronchitis or pneumonia.
Learn to enjoy this precious time of parenting as you apply what you have learned here. Parenting is a big responsibility, but it could also be well rewarding as you watch your child grow into a wonderful individual.
